Because our idea of peace for Ukraine is literally “peace until Russia re-arms and attacks again”. I’m fine with discontinuing funding for Ukraine, and I don’t want US troops involved. But we are flipping weekly between claims that the war has no effect on us so our money and troops should not be involved, to the war has far reaching implications for global stability and we must force parties to reach peace at the expense of Ukraine’s sovereignty. It’s an extremely contradictory approach and Im getting whiplash trying to keep up with the current administration’s angle.

I applaud Trump trying to reach an agreement with Russia and normalize relations with them, but we can't forget that Russia started this war by wrongfully invading Ukraine, a sovereign country. We have to keep in mind what kind of message this will send to the world. That Russia can get away with this without any repercussion? Its possible that Russia will keep trying to push the boundary and see how far it can go, sorta like what Germany did in the 1930s. Trump also is severely downplaying Russia role in this war, and putting it all on Ukraine. Ukraine is only trying to reclaim it's lost land back from Russia. It's sorta the same idea if Russia wants Alaska back and invades. Is the US gonna let it happen?
